Tottenham Hotspur star Micky van de Ven has praised Mile Jedinak after being brought to the club by Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham have enjoyed a strong first season under Ange Postecoglou and can certainly be excited about the future.

Much of the focus is on the players Tottenham signed over the summer, such as Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven.

Spurs also brought in new staff though, adding Chris Davies to work alongside Postecoglou.

The Australian added one of his compatriots too as Mile Jedinak reunited with Postecoglou in North London…

Jedinak was a familiar name to many having turned out in the Premier League for Crystal Palace before heading down to the Championship with Aston Villa.

A gritty defensive midfielder in his playing days, Jedinak became Villa’s Loan Development Coach before being plucked by Postecoglou.

Now an assistant coach at Tottenham, Jedinak will be learning plenty from Postecoglou as an exciting young coach at just 39.

Postecoglou coached Jedinak in the Australian national team setup and the pair are now hoping to take Tottenham forward.

Defender Van de Ven has now praised Jedinak whilst speaking to Optus Sport in Australia.

Van de Ven noted that Jedinak spends a lot of time working with the defenders alongside Matt Wells, branding him a ‘top guy’.

Van de Ven praised Jedinak for his playing career but also for his work at Tottenham, crediting him for keeping Spurs players sharp and ready.

The Dutchman added that Jedinak is still so good on the ball that his presence in training forces Spurs players to be at the top of their game at Hotspur Way.

“Mile, most of the time, is also with the defenders with Wellsy, the other assistant trainer,” said Van de Ven. “Mile is a top guy, of course he had a great career, he played for Australia, he was captain for Australia, but in the team he’s also really important with the set pieces, also every day on the pitch, he’s keeping us sharp, he keeps us ready every day but off the pitch he’s also a really nice guy, he’s a top guy and it’s really good to work with him because even when we’re training, he can bring us at the highest level. Even if we have to defend and he has to cross balls in, even then we have to be at the highest level because Mile still can play, so we need to be top every time,” he added.

Jedinak may well have dreams of becoming a manager in the future, which would likely see him leave Tottenham.

For now though, Jedinak is clearly having a big impact in Tottenham training and players like Van de Ven will continue to enjoy working under him for the foreseeable future.
