Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has spoken very highly of Jack Grealish, claiming that he’s in a similar mould to Eden Hazard.

The ex-Arsenal striker was discussing England’s upcoming international fixtures, and he’s earmarked Grealish as one player fans should be excited about seeing in the coming weeks.

Wright was discussing the worry that Grealish wouldn’t be able to adapt to Gareth Southgate’s 3-4-3, but he believes that won’t really be a problem.

“I saw someone talking about Grealish not playing in a 3-4-3, and I think to myself, like I was saying with Odegaard, you want someone who can play between the lines and is not just, yes Harry Kane comes short so we can get players who are bombing on. What happens when somebody caters for knowing Harry Kane is coming short. Where’s that X-factor, who’s that X-factor?” Wright asked.

“If you want a great example of a 3-4-3 working against a team that sits deep. Watch Antonio Conte’s Chelsea and how Hazard worked in that team, and that’s the blueprint. Jack Grealish at his best,” Carl Anka, the podcast’s co-host commented.

“He’s in that mould bro,” Wright concluded.

Hazard is of course one of the most talented footballers in the world when he’s fit and firing, and this Grealish comparison is a rather apt one.

The £88.5m Real Madrid star does share a lot of key attributes with Grealish.

The Englishman carries the ball in a similar way to Hazard, and the fact that the pair are two of the most fouled players in world football just shows how much defenders fear that aspect of their game.

If Grealish can follow in Hazard’s footsteps and work in a 3-4-3, he could be a massive asset for England.
