Glenn Murray says James Maddison is ‘happy’ that he is playing for a ‘big football club’ in Tottenham Hotspur.
The former striker lauded Ange Postecoglou for the changes he has made to Tottenham after he swapped Treble-winners Celtic for the Premier League side this summer.
Four Premier League games in and Spurs are unbeaten, with Murray stating that James Maddison is the one ‘making them tick’, as he told Premier League Productions (05/09/23 at 5:40 pm).
When Maddison arrived on Spurs’ doorstep, there was a lot of expectations on his shoulders, and in truth, he has blown all of that out of the park – Tottenham fans will love the two-word message Bukayo Saka recently sent him.
And given his early season form, then the 26-year-old is probably deserving of a start for England ahead of their two international fixtures – a certain ‘myth’ about the playmaker was recently slammed and debunked.
Gareth Southgate’s side take on Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifier, before a clash against Scotland at Hampden.

Postecoglou’s style of play at Tottenham
“I look at Spurs and it’s just a breath of fresh air,” said Murray. “I think this group, with Ange in particular, is a representation of Tottenham.
“They have always had mavericks in their team, right through all the years. Ardiles, Waddle and Hoddle. They have always wanted to entertain us.
“And James Maddison, in the middle of that midfield, is just making them tick. He looks happy that he is at a big football club. He is making them tick and Tottenham fans are enjoying themselves.
“Ange ball, I think it will be up and down. There will be bad times. They are wide open at the back, whether they get punished when they come up against the bigger teams, who knows?! But sit back and enjoy it.”

Is Maddison’s Tottenham main man?
It’s interesting to see who holds that label now Harry Kane is out of the door because he was the central figure at Spurs for many, many years now.
Some might point towards Maddison because the £170k-a-week star (Telegraph) is the one who makes the ball talk more and connects with nearly every player in the final third.
Or perhaps the answer is no-one and how Spurs are now more of a team because they are no longer relying on that one person.
