Speaking on The FPL Show, Phil Foden has responded after being asked who is the best defender he has faced this season.

Foden has faced the best of the best in the Premier League, he’s come up against the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Antonio Rudiger, but he’s picked a player from Manchester United as the best he’s come up against.

Indeed, Foden says Aaron Wan-Bissake is the best defender he’s faced this term.

What’s been said?

Foden was full of praise for the Manchester United man.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka, I think he’s great in one vs one defending. Yeah, that’s his strong point, so yeah, I’d probably say him,” Foden said.

Nightmare to face

Manchester United may not be the best defensive outfit in the Premier League, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka sounds like an absolute nightmare to face.

As Foden says, he’s a brilliant one vs one defender, and while Manchester City found it very easy to play around United’s defence due to their lack of cohesion, Foden very rarely won his individual battle with Wan-Bissaka.

However, as we all know, being a good defender doesn’t necessarily mean a team will have a good defence, and with United shipping 24 goals already this season, it’s fair to say that Wan-Bissaka isn’t perfect, even if Foden struggled against him.
