Andy Townsend has criticised Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus on PremierLeague.com for not scoring against Graham Potter’s Chelsea in the first half of the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge in London.

The former Chelsea player believes that Jesus should have broken the deadlock for Arsenal just past the hour mark in the London derby against the Blue on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal created a move from the back and worked the ball down the left.

Brazil international forward Gabriel Martinelli cut inside and delivered the ball into the box.

Former Manchester City striker Jesus came flying in to connect with it with a diving header.

However, the £45 million (The Daily Mail) summer signing failed to score.

Townsend said: “Should score. Should score. Jesus holds the line well but once he’s got there, he’s got to get it on target.

“I don’t know if the goalkeeper puts him off a little, or if he’s saying the cross was a bit big for him. He’s got to score there.”

Gabriel Jesus has been playing well for Arsenal in recent matches, but the Brazil international striker has not been scoring goals lately.

Maybe if Jesus were in top form and had been banging in the goals for fun in recent games, then he would have found the back of the net with his header.

There is no reason to panic, though.

Goals will come for Jesus, who is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and is a key figure at Arsenal.
