Alan Brazil has claimed that he is beginning to ‘warm to’ Leeds United’s Joe Gelhardt, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker added that he was at first questioning whether Gelhardt was someone who plays well ‘one every three games’, but he is now being proven wrong because the Leeds forward has ‘got something’ to his game.
On Sunday, Gelhardt produced one of his best moments in a Leeds shirt when he scored his side’s stoppage-time winner against Norwich City.
It may have been a simple finish for the 19-year-old, but he did very well to initially win the header that then allowed Raphinha to run in behind, round the keeper, before cooly laying the ball into Gelhardt’s path and he did the rest.
This could possibly be a season-defining game for Leeds, in their quest to survive relegation, as Brazil shared his thoughts.
“The crowd were behind them,” said Brazil. “By the way, that winning Leeds goal. Ohhh, talk about relief. Dear or dear. That was a massive win.
“It was brilliant. I am begining to warm to him (Gelhardt). I was beginning to think is he one of those that plays well one every three games? Nah, he’s got something.”
Leeds fans will be hoping things start to go right from them at the most crucial moment of the season.
Patrick Bamford is back from injury, they picked up three points against their relegation rivals and they also have their first win under Jesse Marsch.
In the American’s three games in charge, he has suffered two defeats, both to teams in the Midlands and that’s where he will be headed again on Friday night.
This time it’s a trip to Champions League-chasing Wolves and an ample chance for Leeds to do something they haven’t done enough this season and that’s win back-to-back games.
