Aston Villa boss Dean Smith spoke to the club’s official website after his side smashed Arsenal in their own backyard.
The Villans have started the season in sensational style. Smith’s men shocked the world when they hammered the defending Premier League champions 7-2. Their performance at the Emirates last night showed that their win against Liverpool wasn’t a one-off and that they mean business this season.
Jack Grealish is the first name that comes to mind when you think of Villa. The skipper was brilliant once again against Arsenal, and he was joined by a few others as well.
Summer signings Ross Barkley and Ollie Watkins have been excellent since they joined the club. The duo, like Grealish, were the standout performers on Sunday, but 26-year-old Trezeguet deserves lots of credit too.
The Egyptian didn’t stop running last night and was unlucky not score the opener. Bukayo Saka just got in front of him, and Villa’s first went down as an Arsenal own goal.
Smith was asked about Trezeguet’s performance after the game and the Villa boss claimed that he has improved a lot since he first joined the club last season.

Smith said: “He (Trezeguet) came back in and showed us what he’s all about. He’s very important. His running numbers are incredible.
“Tactically, he’s got so much better. It was tough for him and Cashy that side because they had Aubameyang and Saka who played inside and Tierney. The two of them dealt with their three really well.”
Trezeguet will be looking to keep his place after the international break.
Villa have some very winnable games as they take on Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle, Wolves, Burnley, West Brom and Crystal Palace in their next seven games, and the Egyptian can have a real impact against all of them.
