Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to a photo of Leicester City star Wesley Fofana wearing a Gunners shirt.
The Foxes centre-back is in Dubai after helping Brendan Rodgers’s side to an FA Cup title this past season.
And a photo has surfaced on Twitter of the 20-year-old wearing an Arsenal shirt.
It’s unclear what the context is but here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted to the picture on social media:
Saliba connection
Fofana, a £36 million signing by Leicester last September, is good friends with Arsenal defender William Saliba.
The duo came through Saint Etienne’s academy together and it’s plausible that there’s a connection between this photo and his former team-mate.
It was a stellar first season for Fofana in the Premier League, even if Rodgers’s side missed Champions League qualification on the final day.
And Saliba will be hoping to finally make a breakthrough at Arsenal ahead of making a similar impact as the young Frenchman.
The 20-year-old signed for the Emirates Stadium club for £27 million two years ago, but is yet to make his senior debut. He spent the first half of last season on the fringes of things, before securing a loan to Nice in January.
After that was confirmed, Fofana proclaimed that Saliba was ‘finally free’ in reference to him being overlooked by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.
But the towering centre-back is returning to London Colney this summer and it’ll be fascinating to see whether Arteta has changed his mind or not.
