Speaking on Arsenal’s Twitch channel, Mat Ryan has claimed that Kieran Tierney would make for a decent goalkeeper because he’s a fearless player.
Ryan was answering a number of fan questions on Twitch, and inevitably, the question of which outfield players would be good in goal came up.
Ryan was initially asked about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette’s credentials between the sticks, but he says that Tierney is the player he’d back to put in a good shift between the sticks.
“Out of the strikers who do you think would be better in goal? Lacazette or Aubameyang?” The host asked.
“I’m trying to think here, maybe Aubameyang because of the height, he’d be able to cover the goal a little bit more. You might have to come back to me on that one. Actually I will throw Kieran Tierney in there. He’s got no fear man, he would be jumping around, throwing himself at people’s feet, so I’ll throw him in there.”

It would certainly be entertaining to watch Tierney in goal.
They say you have to be a bit mad to be a goalie, and Tierney certainly ticks that box, as we’ve seen many times this season.
Whether or not the Scot would actually make for a good shot-stopper is another story entirely. He stands at just 5 feet and 10 inches, so he wouldn’t be the tallest goalkeeper you’ve ever seen, and that may affect his ability.
Who knows, if Arsenal ever get a couple of injuries or red cards, maybe we’ll see Tierney go in goal one day.
