Rangers captain James Tavernier believes Ryan Kent has a future in the Premier League after Leeds United made another summer assault to sign Marcelo Bielsa’s long-time transfer target, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
In his third season at Ibrox, the second-most expensive signing in Rangers’ history is starting to make his £7 million price-tag look like a bargain.
There are still a few rough edges for Steven Gerrard to smooth out but, with 14 goals and assists in just 20 games, Kent has transformed from a speedy youngster into a genuine match-winner both at home and on the European stage.
With Rangers now 11 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, after a Kent-inspired 4-0 demolition of Aberdeen on Sunday, the decision to reject a £10 million bid from Leeds most certainly looks like the right one (talkSPORT).
“Ryan has all the qualities to become a really top player. He’s getting there, you can see that. He’s scoring goals and adding numbers to his game. Hopefully that will continue,” Tavernier said.
“He’s got everything as a winger. He can shoot with his left or right foot and he can take it on both sides, he is so comfortable with both feet.

“As a defender, it’s so hard to defend against because he can come down either side.”
Tavernier is convinced that ex-Liverpool starlet Kent could make the move south of the border eventually. But, with Rangers desperate to end Celtic’s ten-in-a-row dream, a winter exit looks about as likely as Gerrard declaring his love for Manchester United.
“(Kent) is showing incredible consistency. There is nothing better I’d like to see than Ryan in the Premier League and hopefully that day will come — after this season.”
Leeds have been batting their eyelashes in Kent’s direction ever since Bielsa shuffled into Elland Road two years ago.
If the veteran Argentine is still at the helm next summer, don’t be surprised if the Whites start the hunt again.
