Ollie Watkins told his pre-match press conference on Tuesday that Harry Kane has got ‘everything’ after linking up with the Tottenham man on international duty.
On Thursday, England’s new recruit could be in line to make his debut against San Marino and he will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Premier League’s finest in Kane.
It could have been a lot different for Watkins in the summer because Villa did seemingly beat Tottenham to the signature of the 25-year-old.
Kane has been a standout performer for Tottenham and his country for many years now, so the 27-year-old is an individual who any up and coming strikers would look up to.
Aston Villa’s very own rising star, Watkins, falls into that category and he shared what he asked the Spurs man after talking with him at St George’s Park.
“I spoke to him a couple of times actually,” said Watkins. “He’s a really nice guy. I was just asking him how he trains, what he does and how he looks after himself. Just get some inside knowledge on how he works.
“I think he’s got everything. He is definitely someone I can learn off and kind of see how he works on a day-to-day basis.”
Only days ago, Kane was scoring from the penalty spot as Tottenham secured a comfortable three points against Villa.
Watkins would have caught a glimpse as to what Kane is like on his day, but the £28 million hitman (BBC Sport) will now get to see first hand just how good the Premier League’s joint top-scorer is.
There’s no doubt that Kane is going to lead the line for England at the Euros, it’s just a case of whether someone like Watkins can impress Gareth Southgate enough and book his plane ticket also.
