Michael Owen says Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s penalty against Everton was ‘just brilliant’ and that he is someone who ‘just doesn’t care’.
It was a pressure-cooker moment for Harry Kane because the Goodison Park crowd were on his back after his antics that led to Abdoulaye Doucoure getting sent off – Tim Sherwood was left disappointed with the Spurs star.
But, as Owen mentioned, the 29-year-old put all of that noise aside, and coming up against his England teammate Jordan Pickford, he dispatched his spot-kick to put Spurs into the lead.

Whilst Kane did his job, he couldn’t stop his own team from ringing true Antonio Conte’s words prior to his sacking, and that’s their inability to play under pressure.
Even though the north London club were leading, they had an extra man, it was Sean Dyche’s side who were the better side and more than deserved their equaliser through an absolute rocket from Micheal Keane.
Despite all of that, Owen was left impressed with the ‘calmness’ Kane showed in front of a hostile Goodison Park crowd, as he told Premier League Productions (03/04/23 at 10:15 pm).
“We were all debating where is he going to go?” said Owen. “Left, right or down the middle. He ends up going to his favourite side.
“Look at this, right in the corner. Just brilliant. His mentality. He’s gone down, got an Everton player sent off and, all of a sudden, the fans are against him. There is a lot of hysteria about him and he can shut it all out.
“People think it’s easy taking a penalty. It’s not. He makes it look easy. He has just got that calmness about him. He just doesn’t care, does he?! He’s just comfortable in his ability.”

GOAL NUMBER 22 FOR KANE
Last season, which included a slow start from Kane after his failed transfer to Manchester City, he only netted 17 Premier League goals, which by his standards, is below par.
But this season, he is back to his best and that penalty against Everton was Premier League goal number 22 for the campaign.
There is every chance that he can hit 30+ before the season is out, including surpassing Wayne Rooney’s 208 league goals – Kane is currently on 205.
