Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has told the Chronicle that Allan Saint Maximin may play on Sunday, but won’t feature tomorrow.
Newcastle are due to take on Morecambe in the League Cup on Wednesday, when they will be taking the opportunity to rest some of their injured players.
Saint-Maximin and Jamal Lewis are both nursing injuries, and look set to be rested tomorrow.
But Bruce has confirmed that both may well be fit to start at the weekend, which is a major boost for Newcastle, ahead of their game against Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’ve just seen him this morning. I don’t think he’ll make tomorrow night but he’s got a chance maybe for Sunday,” Bruce said.
“Young Jamal unfortunately got a horrible kick to his face. We were worried at one stage about his eye, but that seems to be OK.
“His eye is completely closed now, he’s got a cut above it, so he won’t be involved tomorrow. But thankfully, there’s no real lasting damage.”

Saint-Maximin’s and Lewis’s availability is a major boost for Newcastle, as they are both key players for Bruce’s side.
Saint-Maximin’s speed and dribbling ability make him crucial to Newcastle’s style of play, while Lewis has made a solid start since arriving from Norwich City.
If the pair are both fit they look likely started in what looks set to be a tough test against Tottenham.
