Some Liverpool fans on Twitter are confident that Xherdan Shaqiri is about to be sold.
The Swiss attacker, who earns £80,000 per week on Merseyside, was omitted from last night’s League Cup defeat by Arsenal.
Shaqiri scored a free kick in a previous round against Lincoln City and he was conspicious by his absence last night.
Here’s what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said to The Echo about his omission after the game: “I can’t and I don’t want to say anything about that. What I can say is he is not injured and it is not for disciplinary reasons.
“It is a time of the year when a manager get some informations then I have to react on that.”
Given that he isn’t injured, and we’re coming to the end of a transfer window, the signs don’t look good for Shaqiri’s chances of staying at Liverpool.
And here’s how some fans of the Anfield side reacted on Twitter:
Shaqiri hasn’t really been a big player for Liverpool since his first season – the 2018-19 campaign.
The former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich man scored a brace against Manchester United, cementing his status as something of a cult hero.
But it’s been a story of a lack of form and fitness for him since then and although some supporters might be disappointed, there’s just no room for him.
