Ian Wright has tipped Diogo Jota’s meteoric rise to continue on the latest edition of the Kelly and Wrighty Show (Premier League Productions 5/11/20).
The former Arsenal striker was previewing the Reds’ game against Manchester City this weekend, and inevitably conversation turned towards Jota’s remarkable recent form.
As you’d expect, Wright has been mightily impressed by Jota so far, but he believes he can go up another gear.
“When you see him go to Liverpool and probably go into that changing room area and see what is happening, all of a sudden you can see he’s just gone ‘woah’.
“And watching him in the last three games, four games, you can see he’s someone who is going to really kick on there, he’s going to really kick on.
Jota already has kicked on at Liverpool, netting a Champions League hat-trick against Atalanta, but the next step is for him to become a consistent starter in the league.

Wright clearly believes he has what it takes to make the step up to being a starter for the defending champions, but it remains a key talking point amongst pundits.
Jurgen Klopp has developed one of the deadliest front threes in the world with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, but all of a sudden there’s a fourth attacking option staking a claim, and Klopp has a decision to make.
Some believe Jota will be brought straight into the XI, while others have said think he will stick with Firmino.
It’s quite a nice dilemma to have, choosing between two quality attackers, but we don’t envy Klopp having to make such a tough call.
If Wright’s prediction comes true and Jota kicks on even further, he will certainly become first-choice ahead of Firmino in the coming months.
