Herculez Gomez has lauded Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams and his performances for the USA at the Qatar World Cup, as he told ESPN.

The former US international joked that, at the rate Leeds’ summer signing is going, he will ‘cover every single country in kilometres’ by the time the World Cup finishes because he can’t stop running.

Adams is the youngest captain at the World Cup and he has perhaps been his nation’s best player during their group stage and progression to the knockout rounds.

It’s no surprise that Adams has been shining bright like he is because he has shown that form in the Premier League this season, and this is what his fellow countryman had to say about him.

“How much ground Tyler Adams has covered,” said Gomez. “Tyler Adams is going to cover every single country in kilometres by the time he finishes the World Cup.

“And he was carrying a yellow (against Iran). You know how high your game IQ has to be, if you are a defensive midfielder, to not foul or get that second yellow.

“But still get the same intensity every time and not hold off. Not put your foot off the accelerator, that’s Tyler Adams.”

USA LOOKING TO UPSET THE DUTCH

A place in the quarter-finals awaits the USA, but they have to see past Louis van Gaal’s robust and no-nonsense Netherlands side.

Just like the US, the Dutch haven’t blown teams away, but they have been efficient, hard to beat and secured those clean sheets when they needed to.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if this contest is won by the odd goal, but given Netherlands’ experience, both on and off the field heading into this game, then they will be seen as the favourites.
