Liverpool fans have been left concerned by Georginio Wijnaldum’s latest comments about his future to Het Parool.
Wijnaldum has just months remaining on his Liverpool contract, with his future seemingly very uncertain now.
Jurgen Klopp has continued to pick the Dutchman regularly, but Wijnaldum has still not penned new terms with the Reds.
“Just ask Liverpool those questions. Don’t they answer,” he said.
“I cannot say anything about it, including whether or not there is talk of a new contract between me and Liverpool. Sorry.”
And Liverpool fans are now seriously worried that the £25 million midfielder (BBC Sport) could leave them in the near future.
If Wijnaldum does leave then it would be a blow to Liverpool, as he has played a key part over a number of years.
Wijnaldum has the ability to play in a number of roles for Klopp’s side, and his versatility makes him a really useful squad player.
The 30-year-old is clearly a player who Klopp trusts implicitly and it is, therefore, rather strange why he hasn’t been presented with new terms.
Wijnaldum is currently away from Liverpool on international duty, so the club is unlikely to make much progress with contract talks in the near future.
