Liverpool fans think Jurgen Klopp’s comments yesterday were the beginning of the end for Divock Origi at Anfield.
Origi was not even included in Liverpool’s match day squad for their recent game against Wolves.
And when asked about the striker’s absence, Klopp said that he was fully fit.
“Div is not injured,” Klopp said to the club’s official website. “But our offensive options are better than in other areas so I cannot bring three strikers. Div is in good shape, but wasn’t in the squad in the Premier League last time.”
The fact that Origi has slipped so far down the pecking order at Anfield now that he can’t even be guaranteed a place in the Reds’ match day squad has to be a concern for the Belgian striker.
And Liverpool fans expect that Origi could be shipped out in January now.
If Origi, who is on a £50,000-a-week deal (Spotrac), does leave Liverpool he will depart a popular figure.
Even though Origi has never become a regular starter for the Reds he has scored some crucial goals, including the second in their Champions League final success in 2019.
Origi could actually feature for Liverpool this evening when they take on Midtjylland in the Champions League, and the pressure will be on him to deliver a strong performance.
