Newcastle suffered a late blow against Watford as the Hornets snatched the three points from Eddie Howe’s side in a 1-1 draw at St. James Park.

The hugely important relegation clash in the northeast looked to have gone in Newcastle’s favour as Allan Saint-Maximin sent the home crowd into pandemonium with a 49th-minute opener.

However, Joao Pedro struck an equaliser for Watford with two minutes to go, sending Newcastle a huge blow in their efforts to crawl out of the Premier League relegation zone.

The result sees the Toon drop down to 19th in the standings, with Norwich City winning earlier in the day against Everton in what could be a huge three points for Dean Smith’s side.

Indeed, the late Watford goal was a cruel way for Newcastle to end the day, yet for fans on social media, they were left impressed with Saint-Maximin, who again proved to be key for the Magpies.

The forward, who was signed by former manager Steve Bruce in 2019, bagged his fifth Premier League goal of the season with a delicate finish past Ben Foster.

And despite the deflating result, Newcastle fans were pleased with how Saint-Maximin performed against Watford, with the winger again showing how good a signing he has been for the club.
