Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Chris Sutton has been speaking about Phil Foden’s performance against Liverpool.
Foden was one of the best players on the park at Anfield this weekend. He won the co-Man of the Match award along with Mohamed Salah and he had James Milner wishing he’d stayed at home for the afternoon.
Foden got in behind the Liverpool defence time and time again, utilising his incredible dribbling ability and his pace.
However, Sutton believes that Foden looked even quicker than usual at the weekend, stating that he’s gained a yard of pace.

Sutton was blown away by how quick Foden looked against Liverpool.
“He’s that talented, he can go both ways. But what got me. I don’t know whether it’s just me, but how quick he looked. He looked like he’s gained a yard somewhere. Maybe it’s because James Milner is just that slow, but he looked super, super sharp didn’t he?” Sutton said.

It has to be said that Foden looked to have gained a bit of pace at the weekend.
We don’t know how he’s been training, but his acceleration was something to behold against Liverpool, he want from inviting challenges by standing still into a full sprint in a matter of milliseconds.
Of course, it didn’t help that James Milner was the defender tasked with marking him, but even at the age of 35, the veteran is no slouch.
Foden’s newfound pace could be a real weapon for City this season.
