Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney spoke on the Open Goal podcast about his skipper, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Scotsman made the move to North London from Celtic on transfer deadline day last year. Tierney struggled massively with injuries for a lot of the campaign but he ended the season magnificently.
The former Celtic man played a massive part in helping the Gunners win the FA Cup. His assist for Aubameyang in the semi-final against Manchester City was brilliant, and the Arsenal skipper showed his class again in the final to get his side the win.
Tierney raved about Aubameyang’s pace. The Scotsman claimed that the Gabon international is the fastest player he had ever seen; even faster than PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe.
He said: “His pace mate, he’s the quickest player I’ve ever seen in my life. Mbappe was always the quickest I said but he’s just that quick, he’s frightening.
“If the ball’s in behind, he’s running on to it. See the one versus Man City, I’ve played it down to him & he scored. His touch to take it in on his right, he still gets the chance to look up & square it, then just puts it through the ‘keeper’s legs. Unbelievable.”

Arsenal would not have won the FA Cup without Aubameyang
A brace each in the semi-final and the final from Aubameyang helped Arsenal lift their 14th FA Cup trophy. The Gunners subsequently qualified for the Europa League next season, which has clearly helped them financially.
The Arsenal skipper’s future was up in the air even after the final. However, things have settled down now and it is widely expected that he will sign a new deal in the coming days (Sky Sports).
Keeping Aubameyang was Arsenal’s top priority this summer and it looks like they will achieve that. Tierney and the former Dortmund man can form an excellent partnership for the Gunners on the left flank which, if it works well, will make Mikel Arteta’s side a lot more dangerous in attack next season.
