Rio Ferdinand has suggested on BT Sport 1 during their live coverage of Manchester United’s defeat to Sheffield United on Wednesday that both Liverpool and Tottenham will finish below the Old Trafford club.
Presenter Jake Humphrey first asked both Ferdinand and Peter Crouch: ‘Who will finish higher Liverpool or Manchester United?’
Both then proceeded to share that they have had a ‘wager’ on this and the winner will get a case of red wine and the other will give money to a charity of their choosing.
It was pretty clear that Ferdinand thinks Liverpool will finish below his former club despite their shock defeat to Sheffield United yesterday.
Whilst he also proceeded to share that Manchester United will finish above Spurs, who are another club Crouch used to play for, alongside the current champions.
On who finishes higher Liverpool or Manchester United: “We [Ferdinand and Crouch] have already had a wager on this,” said Ferdinand.
Crouch then added: “Well, I said before the game that I still think Liverpool will finish above United.”
Ferdinand then responded: “Nah, he’s drunk too many red wines during this lockdown period. I think United will finish above Spurs. We have had a little wager. What is it a case of red wine is it?
Crouch then added: “A case of red wine or a charity of your choice. We do whatever you want. Liverpool will finish above United.”

Well, both Liverpool and Spurs will lock horns tonight as they bid to close the gap on those above them in the table.
Whilst the limelight was on Manchester United yesterday and their defeat to the Premier League’s bottom-of-the-table club, it’s their neighbours who are now starting to charge.
Pep Guardiola’s side are one point clear at the top of the table with a game in hand – seven points ahead of Liverpool, who have played the same amount of games as them and eight points ahead of Spurs, who have played a game less.
Either way, it could be argued that if you finish above those in the blue half of Manchester this season then the title may well be yours.
