Tottenham Hotspur fans are fearing the worst for Erik Lamela after Jose Mourinho’s latest comments to Football London.
Mourinho suggested that Lamela may not be in Tottenham’s team tonight, when they take on Fulham in the Premier League.
“He is but I don’t know, but I think you understand what I want to mean,” Mourinho said, when asked if the wide-man was available.
“He can be selected for tomorrow, he can. Legally he can but I still have a decision to make.”
Lamela was a regularly used option off the bench by Mourinho in the early part of the season.
But the £25 million man (Independent) has not been seen since flouting lockdown rules over the Christmas period.
And Tottenham fans now think that Lamela may have burned his bridges with Mourinho.
If Lamela is left out of the squad then that could actually owe to Dele Alli’s up-turn in form.
Alli was praised by Mourinho after Tottenham’s game against Marine and while he may not have done enough to start, he could well feature from the bench this evening.
If Lamela is to now be put out in the cold by Mourinho then he will have to take inspiration from Tanguy Ndombele, who has fought his way back from the brink at Spurs to become a key player once again.
