Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has people singing his praises virtually every week.

Even when Arsenal lost 4-0 at Liverpool last weekend, it could and would’ve been far worse if not for the summer signing.

And Ramsdale was in fine form again on Saturday as the Gunners beat Newcastle United 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

It was an easy win for Mikel Arteta’s side in the end, but Ramsdale pulled off arguably the save of the game.

At 0-0, Jonjo Shelvey’s bent effort was sailing into the top corner, but the former Sheffield United keeper tipped it off against the crossbar.

It shades of the James Maddison free kick he kept out at Leicester City earlier in the season.

And Jim Beglin, speaking on commentary to Optus Sport, was stunned.

He said: “He’s done it again. I’m thinking back to the Maddison one at Leicester and Shelvey cannot believe he’s got something to that. It’s another stunner.”

Class

Well, Ramsdale is just class, isn’t he?

What a huge difference it makes for Arsenal to finally have a reliable goalkeeper between the sticks.

Even for a lot of Arsene Wenger’s final years, there was uncertainty in that role, with Petr Cech and David Ospina prone to errors.

And of course, Manuel Almunia before those two.

But in Ramsdale, Arsenal have a goalkeeper who can do no wrong at the moment and come May, there’s no telling how many points he’ll have saved them this season.
