Tony Cascarino has claimed that the transfer of Ryan Sessegnon at Tottenham hasn’t worked out, as he told talkSPORT.
The former Republic of Ireland striker claimed that Sessegnon has ‘disappeared’ since his £25 million move to the club in 2019 (BBC Sport).
Coming through as a goalscoring teenager at Fulham, Sessegnon was ripping it up in the Championship at Craven Cottage.
For a number of years, his name was linked to Spurs, before they eventually signed him up, after Fulham’s initial promotion under Slavisa Jokanovic, then relegation under Scott Parker to England’s second-tier.
But since he has donned Tottenham colours, Sessegnon hasn’t been able to really put his foot on the pedal and he has only made 14 appearances for the club.
To try and put that into context, Emerson Royal, who joined this summer, has already played 11 matches for the club.
Cascarino suggested that Tottenham’s transfer business hasn’t been good of late, as he made reference to Sessegnon.
On the problems at Spurs: “You can get sidetracked into the stadium and the investment into that,” said Cascarino. “Then the Kane issue happened.
“I think the recruitment has been good enough. You think of Ryan Sessegnon.
“From Fulham, for £25 million, and he has disappeared – quite a number of transfers haven’t worked for Spurs.”

It is a crying shame as to what has happened to Sessegnon because injuries have played their part in his lack of minutes for Spurs.
He just can’t catch any luck or a break, but the problem facing the 21-year-old is what’s on the other side is going to be ruthless towards him and it isn’t going to wait.
There is a new face in Tottenham’s dugout in Antonio Conte, in truth, he would suit the system that he plays.
There is no reason why he can’t challenge for those wing-back spots, if Conte does indeed change to that system.
But he has to be on the field in order for that to happen and even now he’s still in the treatment room.
