Speaking on the High Performance Podcast, Daniel Sturridge has been discussing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Sturridge was having a look back on his career to date and discussing the managers that have moulded him into the man he is today, and he gave Klopp a lot of credit.
Sturridge wasn’t Klopp’s first-choice striker at Liverpool, but the former England international has been full of praise for the Liverpool boss, describing him as ‘great’.
What’s been said?
Sturridge has been full of praise for his former gaffer.
“Jurgen as well. I have to give Jurgen a mention. Jurgen was a great manager, he’s different to all the others, and I didn’t play as much under him, but I learnt a lot and we had a very good relationship, especially towards the end. That last season the relationship I had with Jurgen was unbelievable and I’ve got nothing but love and respect for him, not only for what he’s achieved at Liverpool, but for the relationship we have today,” Sturridge said.

Top manager
It’s one thing to have your star players praising you, but when a player you didn’t pick all that often has a great relationship with you then you know you’re a top manager.
A lesser manager than Klopp would have been accused of alienating Sturridge during his time at Anfield, and a lesser man that Sturridge would have been bitter about a lack of gametime.
However, good man-management and maturity has allowed Klopp to maintain a good relationship with the striker to this day, and that’s a testament to both men.
Klopp is a great manager, and while Sturridge didn’t get many chances under him, he can still recognise how important he’s been in his career.
