Celtic youngster Moussa Dembele has starred this season.
Celtic have been simply sensational under Brendan Rodgers this season – and there can be no doubting who their Young Player of the Year is.
The Bhoys looks set to make it six Scottish Premiership titles in a row having coasted to the top of the table, and with a huge gap to second-placed Rangers, Celtic are already looking like champions.
General view of Celtic Park
One of the keys to their season has been the arrival of striker Moussa Dembele, who became Rodgers’ first signing as Celtic manager over the summer.
Dembele, 20, hit 17 goals for Fulham last season, but made the move to Glasgow after his Fulham contract expired – and thanks to a cross-border contract loophole, Celtic paid just £500,000 in compensation for the striker (Get West London).
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele
The Frenchman has become a star at Celtic, hitting 18 goals in 34 appearances for the club, which has included a hat-trick against Rangers in his first Old Firm game, and a Champions League brace against Manchester City.
With great pace and strength, Dembele has been a nightmare for defences in Scotland, and his displays in the famous green and white hoops appear to have triggered major interest ahead of the January transfer window.
Glasgow Live recently reported that Premier League sides Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all keen on Dembele, meaning the Bhoys will be hoping to get to the end of January with Dembele still at the club.
With his stunning goalscoring record, Dembele is Celtic’s Young Player of the Year so far – but the likes of Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor also deserve mention in this category after impressive displays this term.
Manager’s verdict
“This is a kid who has come here, is developing, improving, because he wants to be here and because he sees it’s the best for his learning,” Rodgers told the Daily Mail in November. “When they’re talking through his games this year and talking about scoring hat-tricks in the derby game and scoring League Cup semi-final winners and scoring two goals in the Champions League and in an important game against Borussia Monchengladbach, there are not many other players on that field are doing that,” he added.
