Back in March, Liverpool were linked to a player called Marash Kumbulla.

The 20-year-old central defender has seen his value rise by 150 percent this season following a brilliant year in Serie A with Hellas Verona.

And according to Tutto Napoli, Liverpool’s Michael Edwards is or at least was potentially interested in bringing him to Anfield.

And if his latest comments are anything to go by, the young stalwart might relish the chance to play under Jurgen Klopp and, more importantly, alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Kumbulla has said that Van Dijk is the best centre-half in world football, describing him as ‘devastating’.

He said to Sportsweek: “I like the physical strength of the first [Van Dijk]. He is devastating, especially in aerial duels.”

Van Dijk is technically the best centre-back in the world after finishing behind Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or stakes earlier this season.

And if Liverpool genuinely do want Kumbulla, surely he’d love to play alongside the player he seems to rate so very highly.
