Some Liverpool fans on Twitter believe that Takumi Minamino may be leaving Anfield.

Minamino spent the second half of last season on loan with Southampton and speculation is rife this week that the Saints are trying to sign him on a permanent basis.

Liverpool only signed the player 18 months ago from Red Bull Salzburg, giving him a £75,000-a-week deal.

But four Premier League starts since then indicate that it hasn’t gone to plan for the player.

Earlier today it was confirmed by Japan that the 26-year-old had left international duty for club reasons.

And some fans of the Reds on Twitter are thinking that it’s related to a potential exit. Here’s what they’re saying:

Minamino is a good player but simply being ‘good’ won’t cut it at Liverpool unfortunately.

With Jurgen Klopp boasting the likes of Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah as wide options, the Japan international isn’t of that calibre.

If Michael Edwards can get a good fee for him – and making a profit seems guaranteed after spending only £7.2 million on him – then a permanent sale makes sense for all parties.
