Garth Crooks has raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on BBC Sport and has compared him to Liverpool star Jordan Henderson.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was impressed by the performance of Phillips during Leeds’s 4-0 win against Burnley away from home at Turf Moor in the Premier League at the weekend.

Crooks has included the 25-year-old England international midfielder in his BBC Premier League Team of the Week.

The Englishman has praised Phillips for his unselfishness, and believes that he is like fellow England international and Liverpool star Henderson.

Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “The player at the heart of some glorious football for Leeds was Kalvin Phillips. A beautiful striker of the ball, always looking to play forward and totally unselfish.

“I’ve likened his game to that of Manchester United legend Bryan Robson, which might have been a stretch, but he’s definitely a Jordan Henderson. If Phillips goes on to have the career either of those players have had, he will have done extremely well.”

Henderson is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and Crooks comparing Phillips to the Liverpool star must be encouraging for the Leeds ace.

This is Phillips’s first season in the Premier League, and he has done extremely well.

The midfielder cuts an imposing figure in the middle of the park, and while he protects the back-line extremely well, he is not afraid to push forward and go on the attack.

The 25-year-ls now a regular in the England squad and is very likely to be part of the side for the European Championship this summer.
