Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter believe they have spotted a sign that one managerial target does actually want to replace Jose Mourinho in North London.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter is one of quite a few names on Tottenham’s reported shortlist of potential Mourinho replacements.

Spurs have been without a manager since firing the Portuguese coach a couple of weeks ago.

Plenty of people have already ruled themselves out, like Brendan Rodgers and Erik Ten Hag.

And Potter appeared to do the same on Friday afternoon, but Tottenham fans aren’t buying it.

The 45-year-old said via The Independent: “My focus is on here. I am doing as well as I can, I feel I have the support of the board, the players, the staff, we’re in a really exciting moment in terms of we’ve done a lot of work and we want to carry that on. We haven’t finished anything here, there’s a lot to do and I am really happy here.”

He wasn’t quite as emphatic as Leicester’s Rodgers, who definitively claimed that he had ‘no interest’ in the Tottenham job.

And here’s how some Lilywhites fans reacted on Twitter to Pottter’s comments:

Is he becoming Tottenham manager? Well that remains to be seen.

With Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri linked, there’s no doubt that there are bigger names in the frame, but you can see what some fans are getting at when they argue that Potter didn’t categorically rule himself out of the running for it.
