With January around the corner, Houssem Aouar might have just sparked more rumours with regards to a move to Arsenal.

The 22-year-old was firmly on the Gunners’ radar during the summer transfer window but despite two bids, Edu and Mikel Arteta could not prise him from Lyon.

But the winter window is only a month away and it looks like the Ligue 1 outfit are set to drop Aouar from their squad this weekend.

The Frenchman, who would’ve been perfect to solve Arsenal’s creativity issues in midfield, was left on the bench in last week’s clash with Angers and subsequently refused to train.

As a discipliniary measure, he won’t be included in the squad against Reims on Sunday [L’Equipe].

And here’s how Arsenal fans are reacting to the development on Twitter:

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal need Aouar, but they certainly need a number 10.

Mesut Ozil has been frozen out of Arteta’s plans in North London and and they have scored only nine Premier League goals this season, which is dreadfully low.

Arteta needs Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette – who played number 10 last night – scoring regularly and the best way to achieve that is to beef up the creativity.
