A swap deal has been mooted in recent months, but Goal.com reported this week that Atletico Madrid want every penny of his £45 million release clause, a claim backed up by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Emirates Stadium outfit completed a second season-long loan deal for Dani Ceballos on Friday, turning the emphasis toward Partey ahead of their Premier League opener with Fulham on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta’s side continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa yesterday, with Mesut Ozil sending a post-match message on Twitter and Instagram about it.
And who ‘liked’ the post on Instagram? You guessed it -Partey.
It isn’t iron-clad confirmation that he’s bound for England, but it’s a clear indication that the speculation about him joining is Arsenal is absolutely real.
