Darren Bent believes that Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips is now close to returning and that will make a major difference to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, which was broadcast live on Optus Sports, Bent spoke about how Leeds simply must defend more astutely if they are to climb up the Premier League table.
But he does feel that the apparently imminent return of Phillips will help Leeds in that respect.
“I don’t think they’re going to go down, but they have to do something defensively – they can’t keep leaking goals after goals after goals,” Bent said.
“They can’t keep playing the way they are. The more they keep conceding goals and keep getting opened up they are going to keep losing points.
“He has to find a balance of that attacking way, the way they play, before still being defensively astute.
“Listen, Kalvin Phillips is back or I think he’s close to being back, so that will help.”

Leeds have actually not released too many details about when Phillips is set to come back.
When Phillips was initially injured the club suggested he would be out for six weeks, but Marcelo Bielsa was far more cautious, and claimed that timeline was false.
Leeds fans will, therefore, be hoping that Bent’s claim that Phillips is nearly back is correct.
The England international’s importance to his team has been highlighted in recent weeks, as Leeds have lost their last two games 4-1.
Bielsa’s men are next in action this weekend when they take on Arsenal.
