Jamie O’Hara has revealed that he would love to see Tottenham Hotspur sign James Ward-Prowse.
The Southampton midfielder has consistently proven himself a brilliant Premier League player.
On Tuesday, he opened the scoring as Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.
In doing so, Ward-Prowse took his tally for the season to five Premier League goals – one more than Harry Kane.
And former Spurs star O’Hara has told Sky Sports that this is somebody that his old club should be looking at.
He told Sky Sports: “I would love him at Tottenham. He gives you 15 goal contributions a season, whether it’s from penalties, whether it’s free kicks, his set pieces.
“He’s massive to have in your side and people say, he’s just a set-piece specialist – he’s not. He’s good on the ball. He works hard, he’s got great energy, he’s a leader. I really like Ward-Prowse, I think he’s brilliant.”
Perfect
It is a little odd that the 27-year-old hasn’t yet secured a big transfer.
After all, former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, who managed the player, claimed in 2013 that he was a ‘perfect role model‘.
At 27, Ward-Prowse is coming into the prime of his career and it would be a shame if an elite Premier League club didn’t give him a chance.
As mentioned, five Premier League goals from midfield this season is a brilliant return and with his set-piece expertise, well he offered more evidence against Tottenham that he deserves an opportunity to perform on bigger stages.
