Chris Sutton gave his take on Arsenal summer signing Thomas Partey on Football Focus on BBC One (12:10pm, October 10, 2020).

The former Chelsea and Celtic striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport, believes that Partey is a very good signing for the Gunners.

Sutton said that not only will the Ghana international midfielder protect the back-line, but the 27-year-old will also help drive the team forward.

Sutton said about Partey on Football Focus on BBC One (12:10pm, October 10, 2020): “I think the biggest thing when you sign a player he’s an upgrade on what Arsenal have. He’ll be seen as an enforcer, a defensive midfielder, but he’s better than that.

“He’s one who will always look forward with the pass, and I think it gives Arteta the ability to play a number of different systems him coming in.”

Thomas Partey Stats

Partey made 29 starts and six substitute appearances in La Liga for Atletico last season, scoring three goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

The 27-year-old also played eight times in the Champions League for the Spanish club during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Arsenal

Partey is an established international player who has extensive experience of playing in La Liga and in the Champions League.

The Ghana international will make Arsenal better and stronger in the middle of the park, as the Gunners aim to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
