Speaking on the All to Play For Podcast, Wayne Bridge has been discussing Bukayo Saka after his remarkable World Cup campaign.
The Arsenal winger was genuinely one of the best attacking players at the tournament. He was England’s star man and on another day, his performance against France would’ve gone down in folklore.
This was a real coming of age tournament for Saka, and Bridge stated that he has now woken up to just how talented this young man is.
Indeed, the former left-back says that Saka is actually a better player than he ever thought he was.
Bridge hails Saka
The pundit spoke highly of the winger.
“Saka, the amount of stick he got, to go and bang two goals in. I was so happy for him. He’s so good. He’s better than I thought,” Bridge said.
“I still don’t think he’s getting the credit he deserves,” Sidwell added.
“Yeah, that’s what I mean, he’s better than I thought he was,” Bridge concluded.
One of the world’s best
Bridge is only just waking up to how good Saka is, and it may not be long before everyone else does.
Because of his age, it’s easy to put Saka down as a player with a lot of potential who can improve massively, but he’s already one of the best players in the world at this point.
He is leading Arsenal’s title charge right now and was England’s best player at the World Cup, what more does he have to do to prove that he’s one of the game’s elite talents?
