Many Liverpool fans are eager to see Ivan Toney snapped up after his latest comments to the Total Media Youtube channel.
Toney to arrive?
Toney suggested that he would rather join Liverpool than Leeds United, as he grew up as a fan of the Reds.
The Brentford forward said: “I’d have to go to Liverpool and make myself the main man.
“I support Liverpool. If they come knocking who knows? Who knows.”
Those comments have been treated as a green-light for Liverpool to make a bid by supporters at Anfield.
And many fans of Jurgen Klopp’s side believe that Toney could be a superb addition to their squad.
Aerial presence
Toney finished last season as the Championship’s top goalscorer.
He is yet to find the net prolifically at Premier League level, but he is far from only a goalscorer.
Toney possesses one of the best aerial win-rates in the league, with his presence causing all sorts of problems.
He is a key asset for Brentford, despite only having two goals to his name so far, and there is a realistic expectation that he would be a useful option for Liverpool.
Toney would surely thrive off the service he could get from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
And it will be interesting to see if he is placed on the radar of Klopp’s side following his latest comments.
