Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jesse Marsch has been discussing about Liam Cooper and his recovery from injury.

The Scot went down prior to the game against Manchester City last weekend, and sadly, he was also forced to miss the game against Arsenal on Saturday, despite the fact Marsch thought he would be back for the game against the Gunners.

Fortunately though, according to Marsch, Cooper should be back ready and available to face Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

What’s been said?

Marsch gave an update on Cooper’s situation.

“So, Liam Cooper, last time I said that he would be ready to play and he trained the day before the press conference, and we thought he would be available, but he had a small reaction leading up to the match and we thought it was important that he didn’t push himself with the possibility that we could lose him for the remaining days. I believe that now he trained yesterday, after that and going into this next phase he’s better and he’ll be available for tomorrow, but we have to go through that day-by-day,” Marsch said.

Finally some good news

Leeds United, and their fanbase, have had to endure bad news after bad news on the injury front this season.

Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw are just a handful of the long-term absentees Leeds have had this season, but now, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Cooper is coming back, and according to Marsch later in this press conference, Bamford is also back out training on the grass, so his return could also be imminent.

If ever Leeds needed a slice of good luck it’s now, and fortunately, it seems as though things are improving on the injury front.
