Pundit Ally McCoist has praised Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate for being ‘terrific’ in recent weeks.
Liverpool were in Europa League action on Thursday evening, travelling to take on Sparta Prague.
This was a comfortable win for Liverpool with Alexis Mac Allister getting the ball rolling from the penalty spot.
Darwin Nunez then took over, firing home a long-range striker before hammering in a lovely strike in for 3-0.
Conor Bradley’s own goal handed Sparta some hope but Luis Diaz restored Liverpool’s three-goal advantage.
Dominik Szoboszlai came off the bench to hand Liverpool a 5-1 victory, all but booking their passage into the next round.
Ally McCoist hails Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate
This was a hugely positive night for Liverpool, but if there is one concern, it is the injury to Ibrahima Konate.
The French defender was taken off in the second half with Jurgen Klopp now suggesting that it was merely a ‘precaution’.
Let’s hope that Konate is okay, as he has been outstanding this season.
Konate has everything in his game, the only thing stopping him becoming one of the top centre backs in Europe is injuries.
Pundit Ally McCoist has certainly been impressed and raved about Konate before kick-off against Sparta.

Speaking to TNT Sports (07/03, 5:20pm), McCoist suggested that Konate has been ‘one of the stars of the show’ for Liverpool lately.
McCoist added that Konate is ‘lightning-quick’ and has been ‘terrific’ of late, praising his ‘intelligent’ defending.
“Konate, for me, has been one of the stars of the show, particularly in recent weeks,” said McCoist. “Lightning-quick pace, intelligent defender and he’s been terrific,” he added.
Konate has always had the talent but we are really seeing him emerge as a top defender now.
The exciting thing is that Konate is still only 24 and has so much time to become even better.
Virgil van Dijk won’t be going anywhere for a while, but Konate is showing that he could be the leader of Liverpool’s defence for years to come.
