Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back in training and will be part of the Toffees’ squad to face Newcastle after a spell out with injury.

Speaking to the press via the Liverpool Echo, the English coach revealed that the 25-year-old striker is back to face the Magpies in Lampard’s first Premier League match as manager of Everton.

The former Chelsea boss got off to a winning start with the Merseyside club after Everton breezed past Brentford 4-1 in the FA Cup, with Lampard eager to build on this result tomorrow against Newcastle.

Whilst the likes of Ben Godfrey, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph are all out through injury, Calvert-Lewin will be back for Everton against Newcastle, with Lampard saying: “Dominic’s in the squad. Dominic’s been training for the last few days.”

The England international has only made six appearances this season, with Calvert-Lewin starting the last two Premier League matches for Everton before picking up a knock during the winter break which kept him out of Saturday’s fixture against Brentford.

With three goals in the top-flight this campaign, Calvert-Lewin’s goals will be crucial to Everton building some space between them and the drop zone in the Premier League table, and the attacker will be key in tomorrow’s match against Newcastle.

Calvert-Lewin can make a statement with Everton against Newcastle

It has been a season to forget for Everton, with the absence of Calvert-Lewin likely playing a huge role in the Toffees’ disastrous campaign so far in the Premier League, yet against Newcastle, the attacker can make a huge statement.

A good performance against a rejuvenated Newcastle who went big in the final days of the January window will be a huge confidence booster for both Everton and Calvert-Lewin, and for the 25-year-old, he will be aiming to impress at St. James Park.
