Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe has revealed that he has been amazed by summer signing Gabriel Jesus in the Gunner’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, the England international spoke highly of his new attacking teammate following Jesus’ £45m move to north London from Manchester City, with the Brazilian scoring three goals in two pre-season fixtures already this summer.

The striker bagged within his first few seconds into his unofficial debut for Arsenal against FC Nuremberg in Germany before adding a second later in the match, with Jesus scoring against Everton over the weekend in the first game of the pre-season tour of America.

Taking the number nine shirt and tasked with leading Arsenal’s attack, Jesus has taken to life under Mikel Arteta with relative ease, with the 25-year-old looking sharp in pre-season and many fans eager to see how he does in the remaining tour fixtures against Orlando City and Chelsea later this week.

Indeed, Jesus has become an instant success with Arsenal supporters, and Smith Rowe is excited to play alongside the Premier League superstar for the upcoming season, where the South American could become one of the Gunners’ most important players.

Smith Rowe said: “He’s been fantastic since he came in, it feels like he’s been here for a couple of years. Everyone knows how good he is and we can’t wait to get started with him. Man City are a big club and they’ve won a lot recently. It would be good if he could bring that [winning] mentality and help us out.”

Arteta and Edu Gaspar have seemingly landed on a gem in Jesus based on his early pre-season form, and performances this summer seemingly indicate that the attacker could become a star for the Gunners, especially with the likes of Smith Rowe also excited to play alongside the South American.

Arsenal are building an exciting squad for the upcoming season, and the likes of Jesus will be important if the north London side are to clinch the top-four spot Arteta and company came so close to securing in the previous campaign.
