Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has told Sky Sports that he has been very impressed by Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Philips has marshalled Leeds’ midfield brilliantly this season, with his form earning him England recognition.
Leeds took on Manchester United on Sunday and played out a rather drab 0-0 draw.
But Phillips’ display still managed to catch the eye of observes, as he shut down the Red Devils’ attacking talents.
And Hasselbaink thinks that the Leeds man is just getting better and better.
“I think he’s grown. I still think he’s growing even more, he’s becoming better,” he said.
“His temperament is good, he’s tough when he needs to be, his range of passing is very, very good. He wants to do the work and that is the majority of it, he’s not shy of doing the dirty work.
“A team player, I don’t think England have enough of those.
“Today, one of the best players in the country [Fernandes], he just made look ordinary.”
Phillips’ display yesterday came in front of Gareth Southgate, who was in attendance at Elland Road.

It will, therefore, surely only serve to boost his chances of playing in the European Championships this summer.
Phillips has indeed seemingly taken his game up a level for Leeds this season, although ever since Marcelo Bielsa took over he has been an integral player.
Leeds’ draw with Manchester United takes solidifies their position in the top half, and has now taken them ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League standings.
