Manchester City put Leeds United to the sword and then some last night with Pep Guardiola’s side demolishing the Yorkshire side 7-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
The Premier League leaders put on one of their most complete performances of the season, with City 3-0 up after just 32 minutes. And Kevin De Bruyne was at his magical best for the first time in some time.
The Belgian international, who joined the Manchester side in 2015 for £55m according to BBC Sport, has had a somewhat quiet season by his standards, with De Bruyne making just six starts in the Premier League.
However, if there was any doubt that the midfielder had lost his magic, De Bruyne buried those assumptions 20 feet into the ground after a breathless performance for City against Leeds.
The 30-year-old scored City’s third and fifth goals of the night as De Bruyne looked like his former self in the best possible way. Moreover, the scoreline, as per the Guardian, took Guardiola to 500 goals as manager of the Manchester side.
As you would expect, De Bruyne was named as City’s Man of the Match after dismantling Leeds in stunning fashion. And fans on social media were simply spellbound by the former Wolfsburg playmaker, who looked resurgent.

With City once again gunning for the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League, keeping De Bruyne fit and firing will be key for the Manchester side to make history. And the Belgian’s performance against the Whites had supporters applauding.
With City now on a seven-game winning run, the ball is most certainly in the Premier League giants’ court. And De Bruyne’s only adds another quiver into their already stacked bow.
