Ian Wright thinks Harry Kane could be ‘at peace’ in his mind and, as a result, be set on staying at Tottenham Hotspur for the rest of his life.

The Arsenal legend did speak about how, if he did leave Spurs, then the time is to do it now with his contract having less than 18 months left to run and how Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United would be the ideal place.

On Sunday, Kane created history by becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer with 267. Surpassing the great Jimmy Greaves.

That’s probably a record that will outlive the player himself, just like it did with Greaves, so it just goes to show the type of history he has created.

But, of course, with his contract running down, the summer approaching and these records being broken. It has raised the question of Kane’s career.

And Wright shared his thoughts on the player following his record-breaking weekend, as he told the Kelly and Wrighty Show on Premier League Productions (06/02/23 at 2:15 pm).

“It’s going to be interesting to see what happens now,” said Wright. “It seems to me like, in his mind, he is at peace at maybe staying at Tottenham.

“There is a lot to be read into the contract talk ‘I am ready to sign for the rest of my career’. Or is that a call to other people by saying ‘if you are going to come, then this is the time to come?’

“This is why he is at a real crux position in his career now. The next deal is either go to Manchester United. The mere fact that they have taken Weghorst on loan, I  was watching the game the other day. I’m looking at it and thinking ‘I can’t understand how that’s going to work’. Even with the link-up and attacking the box. I am not seeing it.

“There is a place there for someone like Kane. If he’s got serious intentions of trying to win something with Man United and the way they are playing now. I know they are coming, because they are coming. With Harry Kane, it speeds that up. If he went at Man United, he would definitely score 20 goals a season.”

TOTTENHAM FANS WOULD ACCEPT KANE LEAVING

If the player in question asked to leave, then Spurs fans would understand his call because he has given everything to the cause during these past few years.

Of course, the reason for him to leave would be trophies, so from that aspect, he can’t join a project, but a ready-made side.

There are only a few teams in world football that can provide that, so it will be interesting to see the direction the £200k-a-week star (Spotrac) leans towards if that call is made.
