Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that Leandro Trossard could start against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners will take on Unai Emery’s Villa later today.

Arsenal will be determined to bounce back from the defeat to Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League in midweek.

Ahead of the game, Arteta has said that winger Trossard could finally make his first start in the Premier League for the Gunners.

The £90,000-a-week (The Daily Mail) Belgium international joined Arsenal from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta on Leandro Trossard for Arsenal v Aston Villa

When asked if Trossard could start against Villa, Arteta said: “He’s had an impact every time he’s been on the pitch so he’s an option.”

Arteta has also praised midfielder Jorginho, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

The Arsenal boss said: “He’s really good. He’s come in to the team and earned the respect of everybody. You see his leadership and his impact he’s had on the team. I think he had a really good game.”

Sensible decision

In our view, it would make sense for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to change his team a little and include Leandro Trossard in the starting lineup against Aston Villa instead of Gabriel Martinelli.

Brazil international winger Martinelli has not been playing particularly well in recent weeks, while Trossard has made an impact coming off the bench.

We believe that it would be sensible of Arteta to give Trossard the chance to start against Villa and enhance Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League match at Villa Park.
