David Seaman has said to the Target Men podcast that Arsenal should go out and sign Wilfired Zaha from Crystal Palace.

Arsenal have been long standing admirers of Zaha (London Evening Standard), but have never pushed through their interest and matched Palace’s asking price.

Arsenal backed a move for Nicolas Pepe over Zaha two seasons ago, but that decision has not yet worked out.

And Seaman feels like now is the time for Mikel Arteta to make a move for the Palace wide-man.

“I think Zaha would be a good addition to Arsenal because he’s a proven goalscorer,” he said.

“I don’t know the reason why it hasn’t happened as he obviously wants to come. Whether it’s the agents and clubs not agreeing certain things, that must be the reason, but he’s made it clear that he wants to come as he’s an Arsenal fan.

“He would be a good addition to the squad, no doubt at all.”

Zaha would almost certainly make Arsenal more of an attacking threat if he was to arrive, but whether their budget would allow them to make the purchase is very questionable.

The Gunners are only believed to have limited funds available, and Palace have previously wanted around £50 million for the Ivorian (Daily Star).

Zaha has outscored anyone in what has been a goal-shy Arsenal team this season, as he has netted five times in eight Palace appearances.

And if he was to deliver those sorts of numbers at the Emirates Stadium then he could be just what Arteta’s need to help them improve.
