Some Arsenal fans are upset with what Dani Ceballos has posted on Twitter.
The Gunners signed the Real Madrid midfielder on a season-long loan last summer, paying £15 million for that deal in the process [The Sun].
But Ceballos has been linked with a long-term move away from Arsenal and his parent club.
On Thursday, Real Betis, Ceballos’s former club, got their Primera Liga season back underway with a 2-0 defeat away to Sevilla.
Prior to kickoff, the Spain international, who doesn’t leave Arsenal until the end of the 2019-20 campaign, posted a photo of himself wearing a Betis shirt on Twitter.
Here’s how Gunners fans reacted to that gesture:
It definitely does seem like Ceballos’s heart is elsewhere. He might have an affinity for Betis, but displaying it so publicly certainly wasn’t a good look for him or the North Londoners and you can understand some of the fans’ confusion.
It took a little while for him to get to grips with Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, and the fact he was injured when his compatriot got the job didn’t do him any favours, but he was impressing when the season was suspended back in March and if nothing else, it’ll be good to see him maintain that form next week and beyond when Arteta’s side restart their season.
