Former Premier League defender Danny Mills thinks Arsenal will get even better following the arrival of Declan Rice.
Declan Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham United during the summer and has made an immediate impact at the Emirates, recently scoring in his side’s 3-1 win against Manchester United.
Mills has now told Sky Sports News (06/09/2023 at 10:30am) that he expects both the Gunners and their record signing to improve.

Speaking about Rice following his latest England call-up, the former Manchester City and Leeds United man said: “He’s absolutely superb. In terms of England players, we don’t have too many options in that holding midfield player role.
“Kalvin Phillips isn’t playing that much football at Manchester City. Obviously he’s been fantastic in the past. There aren’t too many others in that position. He will get better and better. He will make Arsenal better.”
Overall, Rice has been terrific in the middle of the park for Arsenal since arriving at the north London club.
As per WhoScored, the 24-year-old is currently making 2.5 tackles per game, which is the second-highest average in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal had to smash their transfer record to get Rice out of the London Stadium, but it looks like they made the right decision.

Even without Rice, Arteta had already turned Arsenal into an excellent football team.
Last season, they came close to winning the Premier League title, finishing just five points behind champions Manchester City.
Thanks to the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard, the Spaniard had a really good core, and he has now added to that by bringing in Rice.
With the arrival of the former West Ham captain, then, the Gunners can surely only move in one direction: forward.
