Speaking on BT Sport’s Europa League Highlights show, Martin Keown has lavished praise upon Tottenham star Harry Kane.

It must have been tough for an Arsenal legend to laud a Tottenham star, but Kane’s talent is so undeniable at this point that Keown had to give him credit.

The striker netted twice against Dinamo Zagreb, and Keown was clearly very impressed by what he’d seen.

“With the game coming up at the weekend I think that’s 214 goals now, that’s 50 goals behind Jimmy Greaves. He’s a top player now Harry Kane, and the 16 assists and 26 (goals) this season. He just keeps getting better and better. He’s always there for them and I’m pretty certain he’ll be fit for the weekend,” Keown said.

It’s hard to imagine how a man who was winning Premier League Golden Boots five years ago could continue to improve at such a rate, but Kane has managed it.

The striker is so much more than just a goalscorer these days. He’s one of the greatest playmakers in Europe, and his vision is pretty much unmatched.

Kane will almost certainly beat Jimmy Greaves’ record at Spurs, and he’ll probably have one eye on Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record at this point as well as Wayne Rooney’s title as England’s greatest ever goalscorer.

To describe him as a top player is underselling him a touch, but we have to agree with Keown that he is just an exceptional footballer who’s continuing to find ways to improve.
